KNOWLEDGE OF A LIFETIME

Attending the Honors College Engaged Learning Panel discussion in person gave me a better perspective on what it truly means to be an Honors student. Three key experiences that stood out to me were scholarship opportunities, joining clubs or groups that align with my interests, and seeking internship opportunities. Each of these has contributed to my growth as a student and a leader in ways that have been very useful even as a freshman.

Scholarship opportunities have always been a priority for me, not just for the financial benefits but also for the personal and academic growth they bring. Applying for scholarships has helped me develop my writing skills, as I have had to write compelling essays and secure strong letters of recommendation. This process has built my relationships with professors and mentors. As a Honors scholar, this aligns with my values of academic excellence and I plan to continuously seek and apply for scholarships throughout my academic journey, as they provide financial assistance and push me to be a better student.

Joining clubs and organizations has been another interesting experience. Being a member of the Honors Executive Board has allowed me to engage with peers who share my ambition and dedication. Through this role, I have developed leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills. It has given me firsthand experience in organizing events, collaborating with diverse groups, and making meaningful contributions to the Honors community.

This involvement directly connects to my future professional aspirations, as I plan to pursue a career in law, where leadership and collaboration are essential. I will continue to participate in clubs and leadership roles throughout my college experience, knowing that these experiences help me grow as a communicator and community contributor.

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

These three experiences, scholarships, club involvement, and internships will shape my journey as an Honors student and future professional. They align with my values of leadership, growth, and academic excellence while helping me develop essential skills as a communicator, problem solver, and community contributor.
